Periodic inspection of a paraglider.

At paragarage we adhere to the french federations ParachecK label to keep our standards high. The 2 year periodic inspection tests all important criteria to keep your glider safe and within the specification of the norm EN-926: porosity, visual and geometrical inspection of the lineset, sample breaktest of some lines and tear resistance of the cloth. The inspection takes approximately half a day of work and includes the line remplacements that are broken during the inspection.

Trimming

For every vendor, for each model, a different trimsheet with unique line layout is created: every glider has it’s own specifications in terms of safety, handling  and performance. Each line is measured, put into the trimsheet and after analysis and (eventually) in consultation with the pilot, corrections are performed. This task takes between 1 and 2 hours.

Replace lineset and trimming

With the newest evolution in paragliding where not only competition wings, but also recreational wings use 2-line configurations, the importance to replace the lineset after a certain amount of flying hours is greater than ever. Linestrenght goes down with time, and risk of breaking a line when you have fewer lines, is higher than with a glider with a 3- or 4-line configuration. Replacing the lineset takes approximately half a day; measuring and trimming between 1 and 2 hours.

Parachute inspection and repacking

Parachutes used in paragliding have evolved significantly over the last 10 years. They have become lighter with faster opening times and in some cases steerable. What has not changed is the importance of a regularly, correct repack and a periodic inspection, based on the constructors guidelines. Next to that we also take into consideration how the reserve parachute is stowed into the harness and do all the necessary checks so that the parachute is extracted correctly in all circumstances. This job takes approximately between 1 and 2 hours, airing the parachute happens overnight.

Lines

Individual lines can be ordered and are made in our workshop based on the requirements of the vendor. We will need to know on which glider the lines will be put and the size of the glider. It takes approximately 30 min to make the line. They can be send by post in an envelope.

Donate your old reserve parachute

After 10 years, at best after 12 years, your parachute has reach his end-of-life. It is too risky to be used as your last resort to land safely. On the other hand, the rescue parachute still can be used to drop valuable packages as food and medicines and still safe lives. Since a few years we work together with pilots from https://www.hpi.swiss/ who work together with NGO’s. Your old parachute will be inspected one more time in our workshop, before being stocked for the next mission.

Sending and transport

For sending paragliders we work with BPost. They have an existing services and their network works well and the prices and optional insurance are competitive. From time to time we pick up the gliders ourselves, but this only if the number is high enough and if you are lucky that we’re in your neighbourhood.
